Story
Rate the story based on originality and theme. Was it compelling and fresh? Did it subvert your expectations, or was it a rehash of familiar material? Were you drawn into the cinematic universe or so bored it became a yawn-fest?

Entertainment
“Are you not entertained?” as Maximus once defiantly beseeched his fellow Romans. This is the bottom-line box office score. Worth the price of admission as a must-see big screen experience or is it a Redbox special?

Performances
It’s been said “acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances.” Did you notice the actors acting or were their performances so natural and nuanced that you were drawn in and felt what they were feeling? Oscar-worthy or Razzie bait?

Artistry
This category includes all departments, from makeup to cinematography, music to costumes. Consider the overall impact of everyone’s contribution to the movie… those in front of the lens and behind it. Amateur or award-winning? Memorable or a flash in the pan?

Vibe
Some films move us. Some films scare us. Others inspire us or elevate our understanding of the human condition. Consider the genre here. A well-done romcom should pluck our heartstrings. A solid actioner should get our adrenaline flowing. A thoughtful drama should elicit empathy. Was it an emotional rollercoaster or flatter than a can of open soda?

Summary
Feel free to leave your overall impression. Be creative and entertaining as you please. As a movie-goer, we respect your opinion and want to hear from you!

Here is a review from one of our previous winners!

“I definitely think it lived up to a lot of peoples (including mine) expectations!!!! It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time!!!! I usually don’t scare easily during horror films but the scenes that had jump scares really got me!!! Vera and Patrick were amazing again as Ed and Lorraine and I love that we got to see how they met and how much their love has grown and that we see more of Lorraine’s power of being a psychic!!!! And the actors that portrait Arne (Ruairi O’Connor), Debbie (Sarah Catherine Hook), and David (Julian Hilliard) did an amazing job as well considering this was a scary case!!!! And James Wan has done it again alongside director Michael Chaves with a beautiful film with amazing effects, beautiful scenery, and just an overall great concept and setting for the film!!! James never fails when it comes to making a great horror film!!! Plus it spooked me out (cuz this type of thing always scares me) was when they play the audio of the actual exorcism of the real David Glatzel!!! Overall very spooky and had a great horror feel with the hidden Easter eggs by paying tribute to some classic horror movies!!! Definitely recommend!!!! It’s definitely worth it and you will not be disappointed!!!!”
